Nullohm has participated in the the make-over and the lighting design of a pedestrian tunnel at Lindberg in Oslo. The designs of the light installation and wallpaintings are based on interviews with local stakeholders and participatory workshops. Several tests of various luminaries were carried out together with local children and adults, who were invited to try-out and play with the lighting in the tunnel.
Short video-clip from the new visual design we have made for MGI Luxury Group´s exhibition booth at the Baselworld 2016, The Watch and Jewelry Show, for the brands Movado, Ebel and Concord.
The vivid Videre-Lux facade that was produced by Nullohm in 2013 shows the new visual that has been designed by Nullohm´s Christopher Svendsen together with Brandstorm.
The kids at the lower secondary school in Vestby, Norway will start this years in a brand new building by architects Kristiansen & Bernhardt
Stairs and halls are decorated by artist Tine Aamodt and Nullohm had the privilege to create a 2,4 x 2 meters Dobpler Interactive LED Wall to greet the users in the main entrance.
Steel framing and the one piece glasswork for the light installation was done by the craftsmen at CC Glass Tønsberg.
Leader of the art committee has been Helena Kive.
The northern Light is not often seen in urban Oslo due to its southern location in Norway as well as the always present light pollution blocking the night sky. The Installation is part of a ongoing effort to create better public spaces in a neglected part of town is located in a small playground in Tøyen.
Zenisk AS asked me for some suggestions for light concepts to enter for a lighting-design competition by the commune, and the result was a aurora polaris design in the shape of two birch plywood arcs of 5 meters length built by Prototyper AS. The looped animation was made by 7minus.
The created light effect enhances the lines of the northern light as an artist interpretive to give a strong expression similar with the real thing inspired by illustrations in children’s books and lately,- the new and much noticed graphical design for the Norwegian passport by Neue. With this in mind I have the last year been experimenting with the task of creating a artificial aurora polaris effect that gives the experience where you instantly feel it in the gut that this is (almost) it.
Artificial auroras has been made numerous times before as light installations, especially in part of Asia where the northern light is considered very exotic. Mostly these lights are just blobs of strongly colored light, not distinguishable from much other lights in the ambient category. On the other hand, is very hard to capture this “textures of light” by my smartphone camera, so some excuses for my “light blobs” in the dark part of the videoclip below seems suited…
Nullohm is together with the Swiss company The Brandstorm exhibiting two interactive LED walls designed with surfaces of fabrics.
Videos from youtube showing the two large interactive LED walls under Berlins monument the Siegsaüle for adb architects. Made with the Mnemosyne system, with two custom made interactions of the light using the memory feature for short delays.
The Mnemosyne, Dobpler and Resonance is all sensor based on the principle of distributed sensors for direct interaction with humans . During the last years we saw the need for a Led light art system that is directly feed with computer generated graphics, video sources or central micro-controllers for coding light effects.
Our task of creating interactive LED facade modular panels for architecture that are wheater resilient, thin and lightweight has also lead to the development of genuine production technique that we claim has solved many of the issues and concerns related to lifetime expectancy, maintenance regimes and costs related to using LEDs in the harsh outdoor environment. This technology now opens for full creative freedom in shapes, colors and translucent materials for custom designed integration in architecture. And it is fully compatible in design with our Mnemosyne system for combination possibilities.
Its is not a high resolution system with its pixel CC of 50 mm, but its potential when it comes to light output is phenomenal.
The premiere of this system in full scale was the luxurious Baselworld fair in Switzerland. Created in cooperation with the brand architects The Brandstorm for the MGI Luxury Groups brand Movado. Custom made for a modern architecture with diagonal facades covered in delicate black fabrics that contrasted the light and materials. The weave patterns of fabrics togheter with the grid of pure white LEDs created vibrant textures togheter with the motion-graphics art provided by Nullohm.
Nullohm created for the french multidisciplinary group OIDEM interactive red LED light fixtures using our “Resonance system” a sensor based light interaction with a 433 MHz radio network. A system that is suitable for pedestrian streets or other public spaces if designed for permanent instalation.
The location are the Passerelle Simone-de-Beauvoir in front of Paris National Library. The Installation was used as a art scene for a number of artistic events, the innovative Future en Seine festival and culminated in the Nuit Blanche festival the 6 oct 2012.
