Installing the dobpler modules are quick, -click clakk, allmost lik Lego, which fits nice since we are in homeland of this fantastic modular system. Soldering the power distribution on the other hand takes some time. We are so looking forward to the next build that will use poke-inn connectors.

Finished at around 20 in the evening, and for the first time we can experience the full size of the latest build of this strange analogue Dobpler circuit. We added some more delays on the timing, and  making “snow angles” is looking really awesome.

In all coastal regions of Norway there are a raging debate concerning planned wind farms and the placement in the natural landscape. Our tiny wind turbine addresses the biggest challenge facing its giant relatives: How to utilize renewable resources with a minimum of negative impact.

Electricity creates jobs and heats our homes. What are the trade offs? Do we need to use electricity on a 24/7 basis, or could there be ways to conserve this resource? To whom do the wind and the energy it provides belong? The dense urban areas that need more energy or the small communities that needs the financial muscles of the society at large to build such infrastructure modern life demands?

Are white wings spinning in the horizon ugly or beautiful? It’s in the eye of the beholder, but may also be pending on the aera. The coast used to be full of white sailing rigs in the era of  the tall ships. A seldom view these days, but always appreciated.

We don´t know the answers, but by introducing three innovative principles with our design in a esthetic fashion we hope to inspire the debate.  By adding a extended experience of the landscape and the natural powers in a context of use when awailible. Making something usefully on demand : Light. And at the same time make known an old and brilliant idea that has not received the attention and development it may deserve; the Vertical Aligned wind turbine.

If there is anything that will define the present style-period in architecture and design in retrospective it may not be the estetic´s, the materials or the production techniques. It want be the current political or cultural currents as single influence either. It will be the creative explosion in the usage of embedded electronics in our objects and surroundings. Not only as simple means to solve a task, but as a defining quality that leads to new shape, usage and experience that has not been seen before. The creative explosion in the use or micro-controllers like PIC and Arduino has given the creatives the tools of the professional industry, and classics will be created.

The Oslo based architects from Bifokal is thinking along the same lines as we do. So when we meet, it was natural to join our skills, knowledge and resources to create some of these visions.
